OUR
VOICE.

The Student Member of the Board is responsible for representing over 160,000 students. In doing so, this role must be filled by a well-grounded and open-minded individual. All of our voices are unique, and when we come together and unite, we hold immense power.

As I campaign to become your 44th Student Member of the Board, I truly understand the importance of student messaging within the corridors of power. This seat at the table does not belong to a singular student. This is an opportunity for us ALL to have our voices heard.

If elected, I promise to consistently communicate and collaborate with students from schools across the county to include the diverse perspectives that are truly reflective of our wider student body. This new decade belongs to greater equity and inclusivity.  I know that we must begin by hearing and representing student voices. We are at the center of it all. Together we make up our country’s future leadership and citizenry, so school must prepare us for these important roles through a well-rounded education that reflects the best of our society’s traditions, as well as improvements that “bend the arc of history” towards greater justice and sustainability in the future.

WORKING TOGETHER

TO IMPLEMENT CHANGE

TREATMENTS

OUR
POWER.

While significant improvements have been made, inequities within our county’s schools persist. By pledging to make this the decade for fairness and equity, let us use our collective power to influence change in our individual communities and the whole county.  Fairness in the education system is a founding principle for greater equity in society, and a “fair shake” for all. The MCPS SMOB is a valuable platform for change and for student voices to be heard and to be transformed into concrete actions.

Together, as a united coalition of students, I know that we have the potential to bring down institutional barriers and repair inequities embedded so deeply within the fabric of our society. Through policy change and system reform, we can utilize our power to ensure that every student feels included and secure within their learning environment, while striving to be the best version of ourselves.

We are an incredibly resilient class of students, and have overcome so much. Through the course of a pandemic, we inspired movements for positive change. Through the blackat, lgbtqat, and survivorsat social media accounts, we were able to bring to light instances of racism and discrimination that was ignored for decades. If elected as 44th Student Member of the Board, I will work tirelessly towards ensuring that no voice is left out, and that our power is used in an effective manner to bring about a more equitable MCPS.
